Indrawn nipples or those too large or too small are corrected under local anesthesia in the day clinic. Indrawn nipples usually are the consequence of an infection. The correction procedure loosens scar sails in deep tissue. Then the patient’s own tissue is transferred from a deep layer to a superficial layer of tissue, in order to support the nipple in its new position. Special sutures ascertain for six weeks the corrected nipple form. Too large nipples undergo a reduction technique. Correcting very small nipples is more demanding. Here an enlargement is reached either by a special local tissue shift from the nipple periphery or by transplantation of tissue from a remote part of the body.
