Face disfigurations after an accident or tumor excision require at times elaborate reconstructions. Many of these operations can be performed under local anesthetic with simultaneous mild sedation. All these operations demand most accurate knowledge of local anatomical details. To assure symmetry in reconstructing faces often a correcting face lift needs to be done on the contralateral site. Here again reconstructive and aesthetic surgery meet and complement each other. Indeed, also aesthetic facial surgery requires exact knowledge of local anatomical details.
