Lips

Many patients suffer from a volume discrepancy between the upper and lower lips; or both lips are too thin or narrow with too little  volume. Or there is a disfiguration after an accident or following a tumor excision. To correct for small lip volume or to harmonize lip  appearance, local volume loading by  injection of linked hyaluronic acid is an option. If more than 2 ml per lip is needed to enlarge lip  volume, hyaluronic acid is not really suitable because it is  degraded with time. Here, volume filling with the patient’s own collagen  that is taken from the groin is the proper approach. This procedure can be carried  out well on an outpatient basis in the operating  room of the surgery. Depending on the individual findings the lip-red may need to be elevated; also this  can be done well by local  anesthetic.
